Ojetti: L’arte si paghi con l’arte (1919)

In the immediate aftermath of World War I, the Italian journalist and government counselor Ugo Ojetti published an emotional article on the issue of restitutions and compensations, which at that time was the subject of an intense international debate. Italy had entered the war in 1915 against the German and the Austro-Hungarian Empire with the purpose of conquering Northern areas of the peninsula still in possession of the latter. In spring 1919, the Italian government was therefore sitting at the table of international negotiations on the side of the winners, together with France and the United Kingdom.
